Farm
Stewarding the land together
The physical foundation of our ecosystem, nurturing both the land and those who tend it.
Elements of this hub
Land & Forest
Indigenous forest, the dam and the streams that run through the property. The wild edge of the farm: walked, watched, fished from, learned from, and left largely to itself.
Grazing & Livestock
Pasture, beef cattle and Jersey cows. Working animals and working land, with its own daily rhythm of moving, feeding and caring for the herd, and a real output.
Food Forest
A layered planting of fruit and nut trees, shrubs and ground cover that feeds the kitchen and shows how a productive system grows, in collaboration with those who tend it.
Poultry
Chickens and ducks for eggs and for the compost cycle. The rhythms of the poultry form part of the daily life of the farm, and feed directly into the life of the kitchen.
Dairy
Raw milk from the Jersey cows nourishes those on the farm, and is also processed on the farm into cheese and butter, and passed into the kitchen.
Gardens
Landscaping, trees, flower gardens and a small indigenous plant nursery. Growing things is a natural part of the cycles always turning on the farm.
Homestead Stewardship
Keeping the buildings, water, fences, tools and paths in good order. The unglamorous work that holds everything else together, done together.
Farm Stay & Residencies
Staying on the farm for a night, a week or a season — as a visitor, a resident practitioner or a collaborator embedded in the ecosystem.
